In the autumn of 2018, from 13th October to 2nd November 20 students (9 girls and 11 boys) accompanied by 2+2 teachers had the opportunity to travel to the beautiful Slovenian town of Nova Gorica, to spend 3 weeks there as part of an Erasmus Mobility program. With the guidance and assistance of our dear host, Mrs Denise Vodopivec our students were posted to six different restaurants, where they were spending 15 working days as cooks and waiters in 6 local restaurants and diners. The accomodation was provided by the Youth Hostel of Nova Gorica, Dijaski Dom, which is located by the beautiful Kostanjeviska hill and Panovec forest.
The students were personally received by the owners and managers of the restaurants and were treated like full members of the staff ever since their first working day. After the first week all of pointed out the positive and friendly atmosphere at the working places and the hospitality of the local staff members.
Besides developing their culinary skills, the students had the chance to participate at two cultural events, visiting the famous Psotojna caves and the sights of Nova Gorica. The students were amazed by the beauty of the Postojna cave and on Wednesday our group had the chance to visit the famous Kostanjeviska monastery, then we walked to the Europa square where we heard about all the everydays of life in the Yugoslavian era, finally we took the local bus to the Soca river and payed tribute to the Hungarian martyrs of the first World War. The whole group was amazed by the scenic view of the river and the bridge.
On the second weekend the students had the opportunity to visit Venice, where they spent a whole day. They truly enjoyed their trip to this wonderful city.
